Nissan goes Rogue with tracks star

-

Nissan has unveiled a new version of its popular Rogue SUV (known in New Zealand as the X-Trail), but sadly it is not one you will be able to pick up off the showroom floor any time soon.

Two features dominate the appearance of the Rogue Trail Warrior, although one in particular stands out. You may not initially notice the exterior design treatment that combines a custom camouflage body wrap and military-style yellow headlights and indicators.

That’s probably because of the massive snow/sand tracks.

The Dominator Tracks, from American Track Truck, are 1200mm long, 760mm high and 380mm wide, and they completely replace the Rogue’s regular wheels and tyres.

Nissan says that the suspension and wheel wells were modified to fit the track system, but otherwise all drivetrain components, including the 2.5-litre 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine and continuously variable transmission, are all standard factory issue.

The Rogue Trail Warrior also gets custom wheel arch flares, an ARB ‘‘gear basket’’, LED lights and a Warn 4K winch.

‘‘This new Rogue Trail Warrior adds a new dimension to family adventures with its snow/sand tracks, gear basket, winch and camo paint,’’ says Michael Bunce, vice president, product planning, Nissan North America.

‘‘If you want to stand out from the crowd during a day on the slopes or the beach, this is the vehicle to take.’’ Except you can’t, because it’s only a one-off made for motor shows.

?? ?? There’s something different about this one-off Nissan Rouge Trail. Can’t quite pick it, though.
