Health debacle

The Ministry of Health’s refreshed New Zealand Health Strategy focuses strongly on smart systems and smart use of data. After the latest disruptive funding debacle, perhaps the ministry should invest in a new abacus.

What will it cost for Deloitte’s to diagnose the cause of the incorrect health allocation sums? What administrative funding pool will this come out of? Vote Health is already missing $2.3 billion because it failed to account for a growing and ageing population as well as inflation.

Further, what action will the ministry be taking to get their calculations right in future to address the health needs of real people in real time?
