E-bike stamina
‘‘I want to ride my e-bike’’ (David Slack, Focus, January 7) ignores the
obvious limitations.
Going by car from Auckland to Tauranga takes 21⁄2 hours to cover the 210 kilometres.
An e-bike would take more than an eight-hour day, including stops for recharging the battery.
Until e-bikes can recharge their batteries when ridden, by an alternator or generator used by the normal internal combustion motors, they are only good for local commuting trips: not for touring.
