NZ gets its own AMG Centre

-

New Zealand’s first AMG Performance Centre has opened at Mercedes-Benz Auckland, in Newmarket.

AMG Performance Centres are a global initiative giving dedicated space to Mercedes-AMG product, with motorsport-themed display areas and specialist staff trained at AMG headquarters in Affalterbach.

The Auckland Centre is the 13th in Australasia.

It will be the only one in the North Island, with a sister facility currently under construction in the South Island, in Christchurch.

The new facility reflects the popularity of the Mercedes-AMG brand in this region.

Australasia is the number one market for the brand globally: one in five cars sold is a MercedesAMG and over half of the Mercedes-Benz models purchased have an AMG option package fitted.

With around 7000 sales per year in total, NZ and Australia account for five per cent of global Mercedes-AMG production.

The Performance Centre launch was also the first NZ showing of latest Mercedes-AMG product, the GLC 63 S coupe 4Matic+ SUV.

Other cars currently on display include the GT roadster (pictured) and G 63 SUV.

From small beginnings as a tuning shop in Germany in 1967, Mercedes-AMG is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, with 1500 employees producing over 130,000 cars every year.
