Red-card dilemmas

-

There must a better way to deal with rugby’s red card situations than reducing a team to 14 players for the remainder of the game and ending any realistic contest.

I suggest that a replacement player should be allowed on after 20 minutes.

This represents double the yellow-card time, so significantly penalises the team and penalises the player sufficiently. At the same time it provides the affected team some hope of winning and enhancing the competition and spectacle for everyone. Robert Begg, Christchurch
