Luxury home offers bespoke lifestyle

-

Located approximately 30 minutes from Queenstown and offering iconic views, Mt Rosa Lodge is an opportunity to secure one of Gibbston Valley’s most premium sites.

Strategically poised at the doorstep to New Zealand’s most popular holiday destination and offering spectacular views of the Gibbston Valley, Mt Rosa Lodge is an opportunity to invest in an iconic property that offers a harmonious blend of leisure, lifestyle and entrepreneurship. Set amidst productive vineyards, this is an exceptional five bedroom, five bathroom home separated into two wings, and is currently being utilised as a 5 star luxury bed and breakfast accommodation. The guest suites are separate from the main house, and come equipped with their own entry, ensuite and balcony with spectacular views. The expansive freehold land includes 1000 vines, producing exceptional Central Otago Pinot Noir.

The property is approached through vineyards up a 1 kilometre private road looking up towards Mt Rosa. The rocky backdrop contrasts dramatically with the park like setting and landscaping of the house and surrounds. The main house looks onto the Gibbston Valley with its many vineyards, and towards Coronet Peak to the left, the Crown Range to the front and the awesome Nevis Bluff on the right. The guest rooms share the view along the Gibbston Valley but also look up towards Mt Rosa and along towards the Remarkables.

Another attractive aspect of the property, due to its altitude and location, is the gorgeous night sky with the enormous Milky Way – so clear and seemingly close that you are completely enveloped by it.

This is the stunning setting that Nic and Ali call home. “We were attracted by the location, the opportunity to run part of the property as a high-end lodge and produce our own wine,” they say. “The 1000 vines are capable of producing up to 1000 bottles a year and we are very fortunate to have one of the legends of New Zealand wine, Alan Brady, as our winemaker. If, however, any purchaser does not want to have direct involvement with the vines they could easily be leased out.”

The main lounge of the house is pitch ceilinged with huge wooden framing. It is surrounded by large windows and glass doors that provide breath-taking panoramic views. It has a large open fireplace and leads out onto one of the three patios which has its own outdoor fire and is a perfect spot for a glass of wine in the evening.

The property is ideal for a range of uses. While architecturally designed as a lodge, it is equally attractive as a private residence. There is also scope for the property to operate as a retreat or event location.

During the summer months the couple operate the lodge for guests from all over the world. “We really enjoy the opportunity to meet and entertain many interesting and often fascinating people from all over the world,” they say.

As well as world famous wines, the Gibbston Valley area is wellknown for scenic walking tracks, a renowned cheesery and a thriving community. With visitor accommodation in place for 365 days per year, Mt Rosa Lodge has enormous business potential.
