Spotlight on . . . free Singapore

- Stephen Heard

Avisit to Singapore likely means ticking off its showstopping experiences, from unwinding by the world’s largest infinity pool at Marina Bay Sands, walking through the Supertree Grove at Gardens By The Bay, or feasting on chilli crab at a hawker market.

The Singapore Tourism Board wants to show off a different side of the Garden City by inviting visitors to try new and off-thebeaten-path attractions for free.

This year, the SingapoRewards programme invites eligible shortterm visitors to choose from 40 activities across four categories.

The activities include a river-dining cruise exploring the island city, a tour of Singapore’s first micro-distillery, a tea ceremony and a traditional Chinese medicine cooking class.

And there are still ways to experience some of the city’s most popular attractions without paying a cent. The Breakfast In The Wild option allows guests to sit down for breakfast inside Singapore Zoo as species move around the open rainforest habitat.

Elsewhere, The Jewel Connection at Changi Airport

takes an inside look at one of the world’s best airports, a night-time cycle experience offers a leisurely guided pedal around Marina Bay, and the roaming HawkerWalk explores the origins of popular snacks, including sachima (honey crackers) and cuttlefish, between street food markets.

Travellers can choose one activity by creating an account and verifying their arrival in Singapore.

Bookings for SingapoRewards can be made on the VisitSingapore app or by visiting singaporewards. visitsingapore.com/en/explore-experiences.
