Adele fans get to see their idol

- LEIGHTON KEITH

Beth Findlay-Heath felt terrible when her hopes of seeing Adele perform appeared to be dashed but things turned to elation when promoters stepped in.

Findlay-Heath, who had paid hundreds of dollars for tickets to see the show, and Emma Miscall were left stranded in New Plymouth on Thursday when Jetstar cancelled a flight to Auckland.

After hearing of the women’s plight concert promoter Live Nation arranged for Findlay-Heath and a friend to attend Sunday’s show and Miscall, of Wellington, to see Saturday’s performance.

Findlay-Heath said the experience had been outstanding.

‘‘I was so thrilled that I got to have the experience because she was on my bucket list when it comes to performers.

‘‘It was totally worth all of the drama, it was absolutely amazing.’’

The show’s promoters went above and beyond and FindlayHeath said she was amazed at the effort they had put in to accommodate them.

She said the tickets she and her friend, Kylie Eagle, received were better than expected and they were in the guest mosh pit at the edge of the stage.

‘‘We were literally touching the band that’s how close we were, it was pretty awesome. I just couldn’t believe it.

‘‘We could see them close up because she was probably two to three metres away.’’

Findlay-Heath said they could dance in the area and she had had a fantastic time.

‘‘It was a really great group of people in there and we were all amped. It probably exceeded all of my expectations.’’

The experience was made even better when at the end of Sunday’s show Adele confirmed what many had expected by telling the crowd this could be her one and only world tour.

‘‘So potentially that might have been the one and only time that New Zealand gets to see her, so I’m just absolutely thrilled.’’

Miscall, who walked down the aisle to Adele at her wedding last year, said the outcome was better than she could have hoped for.

‘‘It was amazing really, worth getting a ticket to in the end.

‘‘It might be the only time I could ever have seen her so I’m glad that I got tickets to it, I’m very thankful.’’
