Prices confirmed for LDV’s new utes

- ROB MAETZIG

The first shipment of a brand-new ute has arrived in Auckland.

The ute is the Chinese-built LDV T60, which will be officially launched in New Zealand late next month and initially offered in 4WD double-cab form.

Single-cab models will be added to the T60 lineup in December, followed by 2WD versions and a seven-seater SUV variant, the D90, in the new year.

LDV New Zealand is a whollyowned subsidiary of Taupo-based Great Lake Motor Distributors, which also imports and distributes Korean SsangYong product. The LDV vehicles are sold through a 19-strong SsangYong dealer network.

LDV sales and marketing spokesman Warren Willmot confirmed all vehicles in the first shipment have been pre-sold.

‘‘The T60 was first unveiled to the public during the National Fieldays in June, and interest in this vehicle has been remarkable,’’ he added.

LDV NZ has also announced the pricing range will start at $28,990 for the T60 six-speed manual and $30,990 for the six-speed auto.

The ute will also be available as a higher-specified Luxury model, priced at $32,990 for the manual and $34,990 for the auto.

All these prices do not include GST.

The range will be supported by a five-year, 130,000km warranty and roadside assistance package.

Base models will feature heavier-duty suspension settings, manual seat adjustment and cloth seating material, while the luxury versions will have softer suspension settings, push-button start, electric seat adjustment, leather upholstery, a stainless steel roll bar and side steps.

All versions will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops 110kW of power at 34000rpm, and 360Nm of torque from 1600rpm.

The D90 SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 165kW of power and 360Nm of torque and drives a part-time four-wheel drive system via a six-speed automatic transmission.

No prices have yet been confirmed.
