Bryan Adams will play Bowl of Brooklands on world tour

- TARA SHASKEY

Musician Bryan Adams is returning to New Zealand in January to play four shows as part of his Get Up World Tour.

The legendary 57-year-old singersongwriter, known for hits Summer of 69 and Everything I Do, I Do It For You, was last here in 2013 when he played two packed-out concerts in Auckland and Wellington.

This time around he will perform at Auckland’s Matakana Country Park on January 2, then New Plymouth’s TSB Bowl of Brooklands on January 4, before heading to Mount Manganui’s ASB Baypark Stadium the following day, and winding up at Black Barn Vineyard in Hawkes Bay on January 6.

Kiwi music icons Dave Dobbyn and the Jordan Luck Band, of The Exponents, will perform as Adams’ support acts.

It will be the first time the Canadian brings his raspy vocal stylings to New Plymouth.

New Plymouth District Council venues lead Nelita Byrne said she is thrilled to secure another international artist for TSB Bowl of Brooklands. Yusuf Islam – better known as Cat Stevens – will play the venue in December.

‘‘The timing for this concert is perfect with lots of people in holiday mode, friends and family in town visiting,’’ she said.

‘‘This is set to be a memorable night out.’’

Bryne said all of the artists have many well-known songs which would appeal to a wide audience.

‘‘It’s sure to get people singing, dancing and enjoying a great night out.’’ Adams, a Grammy and multi-award winning artist has spent the past three decades making music history.

He rose to fame in North America with his 1983 album Cuts Like a Knife and turned into a global star with his 1984 album Reckless.

He has released 14 studio albums, including his most recent Get Up in 2015.

With more than 65 million records sold worldwide, Adams is one of the best-selling music artists of all time.

Bringing with him his full live band, the musician, also a wellknown photographer, philanthropist and activist, is set to perform classics such as Summer of 69, Cuts Like A Knife, Heaven, Run To You and the epic power ballad Everything I Do, I Do It For You at his coming shows.

Presented by Neptune Entertainment and The Breeze, tickets go on sale in a couple of weeks.
