Carr will play showplace

-

Jimmy Carr, one of the biggest names in British comedy, is coming to New Plymouth for one night only.

The star, known for his nearthe-knuckle jokes on every subject under the sun, will perform at the TSB Showplace on Thursday, January 18.

The performance is part of a seven date visit to New Zealand for Carr’s The Best of, Ultimate, Gold,

Greatest Hits World Tour, which is being billed as a selection of his very best jokes along with brand new material.

The show is a coup for the 955-seat theatre, which has previously hosted Carr’s British contemporaries Bill Bailey and Alan Davies, said Ron Murray, New Plymouth District Council manager venues and events.

‘‘I think it will sell out. He’s just such a well-known name, a very popular guy.’’

Carr has been on the stand-up scene for a decade and a half and has played nearly 2,000 shows to over 2 million people across four continents.

Promoters are promising fans that the show with ‘‘distil everything we love to laugh at and be shocked by, into one incredible, unparalleled night of entertainment’’.

Carr’s show will follow the Festival of Lights, concerts by Cat Stevens and Bryan Adams at The Bowl of Brooklands, and cricket in Pukekura Park.

‘‘This looks like being one of our busiest summers, I would say,’’ Murray added.

Tickets for Jimmy Carr’s show go on sale Monday, October 9 at 9am through ticketek.co.nz
