Carol time

-

The Taranaki Male Choir are finishing their very active year, with a special ‘‘Carols on the Lawn’’ event for the neighbourhood around Magnolia Dr, off Wallath Rd, in Westown. The choir’s new pianist, Beverley Glover, has recently moved into her new home at 2 Magnolia Dr, and she and the choir will present carols for Christmas on her front lawn, behind the white picket fence, and are inviting neighbours and friends and passes by to join them on Tuesday, December 19 from 7.30pm onwards. There’s plenty of parking in the supermarket car park almost opposite.

Bev was brought up in Westown, but over the years moved away and has lived for many years in Geelong, Australia. In Geelong Bev was, for over 15 years, the pianist for the Geelong Male Choir, toured with them to different parts of Australia and abroad, and was secretary to the ‘‘Male Choirs of Australia’’, helping to arrange major concerts with many of Australia’s male choirs coming together for massed concerts and events. She has now returned to her beloved Taranaki and the choir are delighted to welcome her as their new pianist, and to take advantage of her wide experience and knowledge with choirs.

Under musical director Peter Jackson the Taranaki Male Choir will present a feast of all the traditional Christmas carols, in a relaxed and scenic setting. Folk are invited to bring drinks and nibbles to enjoy as they listen and sing their favourite carols. Some chairs will be available but Bev invites you to bring your own and sit on the grass verge to enjoy a festive evening.
