A deafening silence
In his great work ‘‘A Short History of Progress’’ the author highlights the world’s greatest threat.
Over the course of thousands of years there has been a tide recording the ebb and flow of civilisations; a rise and fall, with new powers rising as the old ones disintegrated or died.
An historic change came with globalisation of communications, and nationalities combining into single institutions like the United Nations. Now the natural ebb and flow is disappearing. All our eggs are in one basket! As our world wide civilisations combine there is no new centre to bring about renewal. If we ignore the lessons of why civilisations decay there can only be one result.
A combination of international aggression and ambition, combined with moral decline and excesses accounted for the declines: Middle East, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and a procession of European empires have fallen, and now the USA is unravelling before our eyes.
Corruption, addictions, indifference towards the law and each other, demand for instant personal gratification, wild aberrations in social behaviour are all danger signals.
Institutionalised gender fantasies, inane and hypnotic musical repetition of musical notes, lyrics and percussion, placing euthanasia obligations on the elderly, obscene accumulations of wealth; they’re are flashing red lights too.
The majority of the mature population have the common sense to see it all, but the silence is deafening.
