Play at The Golf Day to raise money for our future champs

It’s the perfect summer to get a team together and head to Normanby’s Te Ngutu Golf Club for an afternoon of golf to support the Sport Taranaki Future Champions Programme.

Sponsored by BDL Toshiba The Golf Day is to be held on Friday 2 March starting with a BBQ lunch at 12pm and a mass tee-off at 1pm.

You will need a team of four people is this ambrose style tournament. The team entry fee is $160 which includes lunch. There will also be spot prizes and a charity auction at the end of the golfing afternoon.

All funds raised from the Golf Day will go towards supporting Sport Taranaki’s Future Champions programme. Sport Taranaki’s Future Champions are a selection of some of the region’s finest school-aged sporting athletes. These young athletes are selected to join the programme which supports them gain vital informatio­n and advice from experts to help them be the best they can be. The programme is a series of workshops and one on one sessions throughout the year dealing with nutrition, performanc­e psychology, leadership, injury prevention, mental skills, dealing with the media, strength and conditioni­ng, and drug free sport.

Since its inception 11 years ago Future Champions has nurtured over 100 young Taranaki athletes from over 24 different sporting codes. Many go on to become very high achievers in the sporting world, with one Olympian, over 50 New Zealand champions and representa­tives, and four world champions, including last year’s Future Champs Olivia Eaton and Zac Reid.
