Come on Bill

-

In response to the ‘Begging for Water’ letter on Monday February 26, I am appalled to read such a letter after giving up my own valuable time to help out in the State of Emergency.

As a citizen and volunteer I think all the agencies involved did a marvellous job. Are you aware Mr Simpson that a lot of the people involved in the response had their own families and water issues, yet they still put themselves out there to provide whatever support they could. What help did you give Mr Simpson?

Red Cross emergency response teams (also volunteers) door knocked in Waitara, Bell Block and Lepperton and delivered many litres of water to disabled, elderly and young families who could not access the water distribution tankers. Many local volunteers were also helping out here.

Do you realise Mr Simpson the man power and time that would be involved in taking the water trucks door to door? I think all those people that are angry and gutted that they had to line up – should be thankful there were water trucks in place, and they should have adhered to all the many many ongoing Civil Defence preparedness messages.

Had they done this they would not have needed to rely on the water from the trucks. Hope everyone is better prepared next time!!
