Skoda makes its CD debut
If you’ve ever thought about buying a Skoda, or perhaps you’re just interested to find out more about them, then head to Central Districts Field Days where Skoda vehicles will be on display for the first time.
The Skoda franchise is new to Manawatu¯ and is the only dealership in the Central Districts region, which covers Manawatu¯, Whanganui, Tararua and Taranaki.
Located on Rangitikei St, Palmerston North, and part of the Robertson Motor Group, dealer principal Ross Thurston says it acquired the Skoda franchise in October.
‘‘It’s the first time Skoda has been represented in Palmerston North and the surrounding areas for 40 years.
‘‘We took up the opportunity to own the franchise because Skoda vehicles are simply clever. They have a fantastic appearance and high equipment level but without the high price tag. Having Skoda in our market area will allow people more choice when looking to buy a new vehicle.’’
There will be a range of Skoda vehicles on display at Field Days including the 2017 AA Motoring Car of the Year, the Skoda Kodiaq.
‘‘We will also have the 2017 AA Motoring Station Wagon of the Year, the Skoda Octavia, as well as the Skoda Superb, Skoda Fabia, and Skoda Rapid.
‘‘We also hope to have information on the yet-to-be-released Skoda Karoq, which arrives in April. I had the opportunity to view and drive the Karoq late last year in Spain. I know it will throw the medium-sized SUV market into turmoil for appearance, specifications, performance, driveability, economy, and not to mention an excellent price.’’
Thurston knows his stuff when it comes to cars having sold thousands, both new and used, during his time in the industry.
‘‘I’ve been selling cars since 1986 in Palmerston North and have been involved in many brands, plus I spent 10 years owning another business selling late model, good quality used cars. So I definitely know when brands, or a vehicle, are going to sell well.
‘‘Skoda is an innovative brand
