Woman’s car a weapon

-

When the victim attempted to defend himself, she struck him on the left thigh and the heel of his palm with the piece of wood.

The victim rang 111 and reported the assault. He suffered a small cut to his palm and complained of pain in his left leg.

Then on December 10, Anderson, who had been disqualified from driving since November 29, drove her car at the second victim, hitting her with the vehicle’s wing mirror.

This incident had started a little earlier, with Anderson a passenger in a vehicle about 5.30pm that was driven to a house where the victim was.

Anderson got out of the car brandishing two pieces of wood above her head.

She yelled at the people in the house, threatening to harm them and set their house on fire, the summary said.

She left but returned minutes later, driving herself.

On this occasion she lifted what appeared to be a steering wheel locking device above her head and yelled ‘‘I’m going to kill you’’ repeatedly at the victim.

Anderson then drove away, then turned around and headed back up the street.

She accelerated and veered to the left, up the driveway of a house and on to the footpath towards a group of people standing there, one of whom was the victim she had just threatened.

This person was clipped by the wing mirror of Anderson’s car.

The victim was not injured but she was very shaken, the summary of facts said.

When a police officer was interviewing Anderson on December 12 about the incidents, she threatened to harm him and his family.

Anderson appeared for sentencing on Tuesday on seven charges, including two counts each of assault with a blunt instrument and behaves threateningly.

She also entered guilty pleas to driving recklessly, driving while disqualified threateningly

Lawyer Nina Laird asked Judge Chris Sygrove to sentence Anderson to home detention and he agreed, sentencing her to serve 11 months home detention at a Masterton address.

He also imposed nine months of post detention conditions.

For driving while disqualified and driving recklessly, he added one months home detention, and another month for the intimidation charges.

All sentences are concurrent. ‘‘I trust this whole episode has given you the opportunity to review your behaviour towards other people,’’ he told Anderson. and speaking
