Dominant Te Ngutu Ladies complete season in fine fashion

Urenui claimed second place, beating Manukorihi 4-1, with Manaia claiming third spot after beating Kaitake by the same margin.

Te Ngutu’s men were also in action at the weekend contesting their match-play finals.

In the senior division, 18-yearold Josh Morris prevailed over James Malone 5/4.

The first 18 holes were closely fought, with Morris one up at the halfway point. The match remained close until Morris reeled off four holes on the trot and increased his lead to six up before closing the match out on the 32nd hole.

The intermedia­te final proved to be a tight match between Gareth Savage and John Lovell, with the two golfers all square after 18 holes; Savage eventually going on to win 2/1.

The junior match between Jason Kerr and Brett Werder went to a sudden death play-off after Werder claimed the final three holes in regulation to force a play-off.

However Kerr held his nerve to win the second extra hole. The limits final also went to an extra hole with Stu McCallum finally winning over Colin Radford on the 19th.

New Plymouth Boys’ High School overcame Francis Douglas Memorial College in a tight contest played in strong southeaste­rly winds to win the TSSSA Golf Championsh­ips at Ngamotu last Friday.

After the top three scores from the two teams were locked at

255, NPBHS claimed the victory in a tie-breaker between the two fourth-placed players, R Tarrant 94, J Elder 95, by a single stroke.

The side will represent Taranaki at the national secondary schools championsh­ips at Manawatu Golf Club, Palmerston North in September.
