Ever wondered why some celebs seem to look younger and fresher by the day? It’s all down to clever makeup application, apparently.
Online beauty magazine Byrdie spoke to Victoria Beckham’s makeup artist, Wendy Rowe, who offered some of the techniques she uses to turn back the years – just by making a few simple tweaks.
Rowe says the 44-year-old Beckham’s fuller-looking lips are created by subtly over-lining them.
“We use Burberry Lip Colour Contour, [to create] a fuller lip in the middle, which gives you the same polished feeling of a lipstick but without looking like you’ve got lipstick on,” she says.
Adding a touch of gloss on top further accentuates a plumperlooking lip.
Beckham has swapped a more heavily made-up, contoured skin look for a warmer, more natural-looking base with just a hint of luminosity and “youth-boosting” blush.
“It’s all about amazing skin – and lots of lashes,” says Rowe. “Victoria has great skin, and I use my Burberry favourites: Burberry Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Base and Burberry Cashmere Concealer.”
While Beckham was formerly a fan of a straight brow, she’s now swapped to a subtle arch, which softens features and opens the eye.
And while she hasn’t ditched her signature smoky eye completely, she has toned it down.
“We do dark kohl around the base of the lash [line], keeping the eyelid quite open and then do several coats of mascara for super-long, voluminous lashes. I also use a beige eyeliner to widen the eye,” says Rowe.
