Men sought after shooting
Two arrest warrants have been issued as police continue to hunt for people connected to a shooting at Taranaki Base Hospital last month.
A 43-year-old man received serious injuries in the attack when he was shot in the back and legs near the
Child and Adolescent
Health Unit car park about
9.35pm on
August 1. He underwent surgery to remove shotgun pellets.
On
Monday police raided the Highway
61 gang clubrooms on
Norman St,
Waitara and seized firearms, ammunition and drugs. A
49-year-old male and a 47-year-old female were arrested in relation to the discovery of the firearms and attack at the hospital.
Yesterday warrants were issued to arrest Stanley Joseph Sole, 43, and Peter James Jones,
50.
Sole is facing charges of possession of methamphetamine, supplying methamphetamine, possession of a pistol and ammunition and possession of methamphetamine and a firearm with the intent to commit a crime and was wanted in connection with the hospital shooting. Jones is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, explosives and a pistol as well as possession of cannabis for supply and receiving stolen goods in relation to the raid on the gang pad.
Detective Senior Sergeant Brent Matuku said police were carrying out extensive enquiries and there was no risk to the wider public.
The man and woman arrested on Monday are due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court on Thursday.
