Hospital shooting arrest

Police have made another arrest in connection with a shooting at Taranaki Base Hospital in August.

A 43-year-old man received serious injuries in the attack when he was shot in the back and legs near the Child and Adolescent Health Unit car park on August 1.

Yesterday police arrested Stanley Joseph Sole in connection with the attack and charged him with possession of methamphet­amine for supply, possession of methamphet­amine, possession of a pistol, possession of ammunition and the commission of a crime with a firearm.

Sole, 43, appeared before Judge Philippa Cunningham in the New Plymouth District Court and was remanded, without plea, on bail to reappear on October 4.

His arrest follows a raid by police on the Highway 61 gang pad in Waitara on Monday. A

49-year-old male and 47-year-old female had been charged with unlawful possession of firearms, possession of cannabis for supply while the woman was also charged with wounding in relation to the shooting. The pair are due to appear in the New Plymouth District Court today.

Meanwhile Peter James Jones,

50, remains on the run from police after a warrant for his arrest was issued on Tuesday. Jones is facing charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, explosives and a pistol as well as possession of cannabis for supply and receiving stolen goods in relation to Monday’s raid.
