Move quickly for success

-

Great to see some coverage of Cr Hitchcock’s trip to Aberdeen in Scotland on Stuff.

With the NZ government’s focus on EV we cannot go past the use of fuel cell vehicles as this technology makes more sense in the fact that fuel cell vehicles are quicker to charge (refuel) in a couple of minutes and have a longer range.

Hydrogen technology will be able to sit on a forecourt just as LPG has done in the past, and you would have read that Hyundai and Toyota are hot on this technology and as we know both have the tech developed, as well as the VW/Audi group.

But the real wins will be in commercial sectors with trucking companies etc.

Taranaki needs to move fast and carefully to secure and continue to be known as the Energy Province.

We are not the only potential players in this field with Wairarapa with its wind farms (excess power from Windfarms and solar panels can be used to produce hydrogen), and the NZ thinktank hydrogen consortium that’s looking at its options. We are not talking about years.

We are now talking about months before we see actual work start on hydrogen fuel stations.

Will we be successful in following Aberdeen’s transition from fossil fuels to renewable green energies ?
