Julian thanks fans

Toulon wing Julian Savea has thanked his fans for their messages of support, after he escaped without major injuries when he fell asleep at the wheel and flipped his car in France. ‘‘Just want to thank everyone for the messages and concerns about my accident, I am just very grateful that no one else was involved and hurt and that I made it home safely to my wife and daughter,’’ the former All Black said in a brief statement on Twitter. The incident happened in the hours after Toulon’s 26-16 win against Perpignan on Sunday (NZT). Savea bagged one try from the unfamiliar role of second-five.
