KFC pulls ad after sexual harassment complaint
Fast-food chain KFC has pulled a television advertisement after a complaint that it tried to pass off sexual harassment and humiliation as humour. The KFC Zinger Gold Burger advert showed a man changing clothes on the roadside, and a woman shielding him with a towel deliberately dropping it as a car approaches. KFC’s owner, Restaurant Brands, said the advert was intended to be a ‘‘lighthearted situation between a group of friends’’. The Advertising Standards Authority agreed with a complainant that the content was offensive. But as the breach was unintentional and KFC decided to pull the advert, the matter would not go before the complaints board.
