Tractor fire in South Taranaki

Firefighters were called to a tractor fire in rural South Taranaki on Saturday. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said they were called just before midday to Tiromoana Rd, near Maata, east of Eltham. ‘‘We had a well-involved fire and there was also a grass fire nearby,’’ he said. He said they were not aware of the extent of the damage but there was likely ‘‘reasonable damage’’ to the tractor. The fire was under control by 12.20pm.
