- Brianna McIlraith

New Plymouth Fleetwood Mac, but have Fleetmac Wood.

That will all change when the Los Angeles-based DJ duo, made up of Lisa Jelliffe, aka DJ Roxanne Roll, and Alex Oxley, aka DJ Smooth Sailing, play at the TSB Festival of Lights on December 28. has it’s had yet to

The show, part of the New Plymouth District Council-run festival, is not a tribute act but a set that reframes the music of Fleetwood Mac and it will transform the Pukekura Park’s Hatchery Lawn into a dance floor of techno, disco and house music.

‘‘This will be our first time to New Plymouth and TSB Festival of Lights and we can’t wait to play,’’ Jelliffe said.

‘‘We’re DJs that love playing disco, house and techno so we combine many dance music genres with the music of Fleetwood Mac, so it’s their music tweaked for the dance floor.’’

The duo have played around the world, including the Burning Man festival in America, and find that their music attracts people young and old.

‘‘We love it when we see different generations connecting via music and firmly believe that you should always be welcome on the dance floor, no matter how old or young you are.

‘‘You will recognise most of the songs, but there are a few surprises,’’ Jelliffe said.

Fleetmac Wood have previously played at festivals throughout the country and will play at Rhythm and Alps on December 29.

‘‘We cannot predict any set, but we hope New Plymouth get a chance to let loose, close their eyes, twirl like Stevie (Nicks) and feel joy.’’
