Weinstein deal reached

-

Harvey Weinstein and the board of his former studio have reached a nearly US$19 million ($29m) settlement with dozens of women accusing him of sexual misconduct. New York state’s attorney-general and the lawyers in a class-action lawsuit announced the deal yesterday. If approved in court, the settlement would permit Weinstein’s accusers to each claim between US$7500 and US$750,000. The former Hollywood producer was convicted earlier this year of rape and sexual assault. In 2017, the accusations against him gave rise to the global #MeToo movement.
