Siouxsie Wiles an ‘inspiring woman’
Microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles has been ranked in the 2020 edition of the BBC’s 100 inspiring and influential women. Wiles, a scientist at
Auckland
University, made the list alongside the likes of
Sanna Marin, who leads
Finland’s all-female coalition government, Sarah Gilbert, who is heading Oxford University research into a coronavirus vaccine, and actress and activist Jane Fonda. The BBC said Wiles had been a ‘‘force of nature’’ during the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme for this year’s list was ‘‘women who led change’’, the BBC said.
