Roadmap on regional tour

- Helen Harvey

Food, farming and energy are among the topics to be discussed at a series of roadshows around the region.

Tapuae Roa and Taranaki 2050 Roadmap lead group Nga¯ Kaiwhakatere o Taranaki, and programme coordinator Venture Taranaki, are hitting the road this month.

Taranaki 2050 Roadmap is a programme to help the region move to a low-emissions economy, and Tapuae Roa is Taranaki’s economic development strategy.

The roadshow will provide progress updates, and give an opportunity for people to ask questions, Venture Taranaki chief executive Justine Gilliland said.

‘‘There has been a lot of great mahi happening around the region and some incredible initiatives that our community is working on, but there is still a large programme of work to be done.’’

The roadshow will be held over four separate sessions, with eachrelating to the district it is being held in.

General manager, regional strategy and sectors, Anne Probert said people will be really surprised at the initiatives that are under way, and will ‘‘get a sense of what is going on and hear directly from people involved’’.

Roadshows in New Plymouth are tomorrow at 5.30pm at the Novotel, and April 20 at 11am at the Plymouth International. The session in Ha¯wera is on April 20 at 5.30pm at the TSB Hub, while Stratford’s takes place at 5pm on April 27 in the War Memorial Centre.

Registrations can be made through the Venture Taranaki Facebook page or by searching Tapuae Roa on Eventbrite.
