George Carlin’s American Dream

This two-part documentar­y chronicles the life and work of the legendary comedian whose career spanned half a century. As well as footage of his groundbrea­king stand-up sets and other appearance­s, this also includes interviews with Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Bette Midler, Jon Stewart and Carlin’s daughter, Kelly.

No Man of God

Elijah Wood, Luke Kirby and Robert Patrick star in this 2021 crime-drama which focuses on the complicate­d relationsh­ip that formed between FBI analyst Bill Hagmaier and serial killer Ted Bundy during his final years on death row.

Minari

(8.30pm, Sunday, Whakaata Māori)

Steven Yeun headlines this 2020 drama about a Korean family who move to Arkansas in the 1980s to start a farm. While taking a Korean perspectiv­e on the ‘‘American dream’’, it also evokes memories of bitterswee­t and torrid tales where one family member is seemingly risking it all in pursuit of a goal that maybe they alone believe in. As well as elegant pacing, taut direction and a fabulous cast (Yuh-jung Youn won an Oscar for her work as Grandmothe­r Soon-ja), Minari benefits from the cinematogr­aphy of Hunt for the Wilderpeop­le’s Lachlan Milne.

Celebrity Treasure Island

There is a new mystery, new celebritie­s and new challenges that will push the 21 contestant­s to their limit as a new season kicks off. The producers are promising not only surprises but also the biggest twist in Treasure Island history. Again hosted by Bree Tomasel and Matt Chisholm, among those who travelled to the Far North to take part are Guy Montgomery, Karen O’leary, Lynette Forday, Melodie Robinson, Mike King, Perlina Lau, Ron Cribb, Shimpal Lelisi, Siobhan Marshall and Dame Susan Devoy.

Our Other Islands

(7.30pm, Mondays, Whakaata Māori) New series in which Troy Kingi explores Aotearoa’s smaller places, learning the history and legends, and meeting the characters who live there. He begins in the deep south with the locals on Rakiura.
