New Plymouth will host all Soffe Cup matches this weekend

-

Soffe Cup, the Taranaki premier tennis competition, continues tomorrow with all matches to be played across clubs in New Plymouth.

The leaders Rotokare will receive Stratford.

Every game is important for Rotokare in their race to secure the first place and, therefore, the chance to play at home in the final matches for the title.

If the Roberts’ siblings Will and Emma are available, a win will be more likely for Rotokare.

However, Stratford are a strong team leaded by Callum Old, David White and Thomas Brown on the men’s side and Nicole Kowalewski and Courtney Tippett on the women’s side.

Pukekura will receive the other leaders Okaiawa at their club in Brooklands.

On paper, Okaiawa are the favourite to get a win. However, Pukekura have included competitive players in their lineup, including Jordan Fleming, Michael Erb, Raymond Teunissen, Derryn Fleming and Tenzin Joe.

With this, quality tennis is guaranteed to be seen at Pukekura Tennis Club.

In the other clash of this week, Waiwaka will host Huatoki. Both teams are in need for a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the semifinals.

With Luis Silva away umpiring the Davis Cup in Christchurch, it could be an opportunity for Huatoki to include the young Quinn Hall, or line up the talented Josh Wormald, an important decision for the captain Ross Lilley to make.

Waiwaka are hoping to have their best players back in action after last week’s forced default and be back in business to reach the semifinals.

In the Sumpter Trophy competition, Hāwera will host Okaiawa, Huatoki receive Stratford and Oakura will face Rotokare at home.
