Mens Veterans’ Golf Central Motor Group sponsored the Len Murphy Stableford Comp on Wednesday 20 July. Top Golfer on the day was Ralph Robertshaw­e with 43 stableford points from a gross of 84. Vets President Les Wraight had the best Gross of 81 and made 42 points.

Jock Prescott also made a gross of 84 and had 42 stableford points. Best Junior gross was Ross Cory with a 95. Other good scores :- 38 points for Derek Rankin & Graham Woodcock,On his own with 37 points was Peter Stearn. Five with 35 points – Dick Fraser, Neil Murley, Dennis Tito,Doug Cullen and Ross Cory. Martin Bull & John Roberts achieved 34 points. On his own with 33 points – Eddie Hawke. Five with 32 points were Athol Lonsdale,Gary Baird who got the only ‘‘Two’’ of the day,Ivan Rudd, Richard Brooker &Terry Brighouse. 31 points for Lou McCauley, Barry Hickling & Graham Pringle with Colin Light & Ted Swanney making 30 points. 29 points for Malcolm Munro,John Mather,Albert Turner & Bob Yeoman and finally on the prize list with 28 points- Gordon Harvey. Turangi Veterans Golf A cold, windy day with snowflakes saw 17 Vets play on Tuesday 19 with some good scores. Results were 1 st Mark Herrick 22 stableford­s; 2 nd Leo Videbeck 20; 3 rd Dennis Butterwort­h 19; 4 th Brenda Grace 19; 5 th Suzanne Lang 19; 6 th Judy Gillespie 17. The lowest stableford was 16 over 10 prizes. Ex long time Golf Club member John Steele celebrated his 90th birthday today. Well done John and may you have many more. On Saturday 23 rd July, members contest the Simpson Trophy, 4 BBB on stableford. Once again, Vet Kerry will be out there. Taupo Ladies Golf Some 28 ladies competed in the Tauhara Cup on Tuesday in rather wintry conditions Jenny Cory and Barbara Curtis were first with a combined nett of 139, the runners up were Carolyn Newth and Maggie Rudd on 147, next best overall was Margery Macdonald and Beryl Paterson on 149. Judy Godfrey won the Victoria’s Cafe´ voucher and Barbara Jensen won the Mole ‘n Chicken voucher, with Bev McCauley winning the Bottle O voucher.

The Pro Shop Longest Putt was won by Barbara Curtis and Anna Brabyn won the Salute Delicatess­en voucher. The Merchant of Taupo raffle was won by Barbara Jensen.
