Big crowd wanted for final

- MATT SHAND

Taupo Sports A halfback Zayn Tipping knows only too well the advantage a big crowd can have on a match result.

And when that match is a home final, he wants all the advantages he can get.

Taupo Sports A nearly had a perfect run this season but it will mean nothing if they cannot defeat rivals Waitomo on Saturday in the Meads Shield final. It is their first home final in three years.

‘‘I love hearing the crowd roar,’’ Tipping said.

‘‘It made a big difference in our semi-final game.’’

Sports A clawed back a victory against the strong United side last week. The last eight minutes of the game was especially gruelling with both teams giving it their all. Tipping kept the ball in the forwards for eight minutes of rucks while the crowd roared on.

‘‘Waitomo is going to be tough,’’ he said.

‘‘They are a team.’’

Brain Mansfield wants to see all the seats filled on Saturday to make the match something to remember.

‘‘Being at home and having a huge crowd behind us will go a long way to getting the win,’’ he said.

‘‘Having the home final is something we have been aiming for all season.’’

The match kicks off at Owen Delany Park at 2.30pm. very wellstructured
