New Potter book appears

-

Muggles, witches and wizards are all welcome at Paper Plus Taupo on Sunday when the latest Harry Potter book is released for sale.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is written by Jack Thorne, John Tiffany and JK Rowling, and is a play script rather than a novel.

Paper Plus Taupo manager Vicki Febery said the book picks up the story 19 years after the events of the last book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

‘‘Harry is now an overworked, stressed out employee at the Ministry of Magic,’’ Febery said.

‘‘It’s about him and his son, Albus Severus Potter.’’

Boxes containing the new book had arrived instore, but a magic spell had locked them shut, and they couldn’t be opened until Sunday, at 11.01am sharp, Febery said.

‘‘We have a special employee from the Ministry of Magic coming to break the seal on the boxes,’’ she said.

‘‘We’ve heard it will unleash the Dementors if we try to open the boxes before then.’’

Febery the travelling magician would be present from 10.30am to 1pm, and she encouraged families to dress up for the event.

* Sunday July 31, 11.01am. Paper Plus Taupo, Heuheu St. Hardcover books: $39.99 on Sunday, $49.99 thereafter.
