Awhi Midwives have moved to a new location and are celebrating with an open day.

The ground floor of the White House, located at 66 Paora Hapi Street is the new location for the midwives. The open home celebration will be on August 01, from 10am - 1pm and all of the community is invited to check out the new digs.

Awhi Midwives co-founders, Jo Toma and Toni Postlewaite said the new location will provide expectant mothers and their families with a centrally located facility, close to Taupo’s central business district.

‘‘This new space will provide maternity services and a range of wrap-around support services including parenting advice, breastfeeding support, smoking cessation, immunisations, healthy eating, maternal mental health services, birth control and a drop in breastfeeding sanctuary for young mothers while they are in town,’’ they said.

The midwives have been providing midwifery services in Taupo since 2013. The decision to move to the larger space at the White House was made in order to provide expectant mothers and their families with a centrally located facility closer to Taupo’s central business district.
