Vigor-Brown for re-election

- STEPH RANGI

Improving the health of everyone in the Taupo community is the goal for Rob Vigor-Brown.

Having sat on the Lakes District Health Board for almost a decade, Vigor-Brown is running for re-election in a bid to continue improving health in Taupo’s community.

‘‘To learn about health takes a long time and that experience is necessary to make the right choices for the limited health dollar,’’ he said.

‘‘I strongly advocated for the video links between Taupo, Rotorua and Waikato Hospitals to deliver specialist and instant health care to the emergency department of Taupo Hospital.’’

Having an extensive history in the health sector, Vigor-Brown is also deputy chair of two health board committees, a representative on the Waikato District Health Board Disability Support Advisory Committee, and a member of Midland Trauma Research Centre Steering Group.

He is also a former director of Laboratory Services Rotorua as well as having served on the building committees for the Rotorua and Taupo Hospital new builds.

Vigor-Brown has identified a few areas in the current health system which he hopes to change if re-elected.

‘‘I intend to advocate for the current issues facing Taupo; a CT scanner, better and more convenient travel services provided by Lakes DHB to Rotorua and Waikato Hospitals,’’ he said.

Although Vigor-Brown currently lives in Rotorua, he spent 10 years in Taupo working as a lawyer, he believes he knows the Taupo community well and wants to continue improving the community’s health sector.
