Taupo senior sergeant Phillip Edwards is reminding those who have court appearance­s to ensure they attend to prevent a warrant being issued for their arrest.

‘‘To avoid the police from knocking on your door and causing unnecessar­y annoyance to your family and friends, I encourage those with warrants to quickly get these cleared, either by fronting at the court or local police station,’’ he said.

This week also saw 12 residentia­l burglaries with the following items taken.

- An offender entered a house illegally and decided to cook himself a pie. The flatmate arrived home just after 2pm and heard the microwave finish its cooking cycle. She realised then the house had been entered but the offender fled through the front door while no one was looking.

- An off road bike Suzuki 175 was taken from a house.

- A Mountain Bike has been stolen from the balcony where a family was staying. The balcony is accessible only to the people staying in the unit by climbing a set of stairs.

- Occupants of a house that had been left vacant for three weeks, returned to find a number of items had been stolen. The offenders gained access through a window to a separate garage by removing panes of glass from louvre windows and sawing through a wooden frame inside the window. Items stolen included two ski-biscuits and ropes, two pairs of water-skis, four wetsuits, six ski-vests, three pairs of ski gloves, a boat battery charger and mountain bike pump and a petrolpowe­red weed trimmer.

- The victim saw a young male come onto her property and take a handful of cigarette butts from her ash tray which sits on the front porch.

- The offender has used a hammer on the property to smash a window and then unlock a door. The offender Once inside they pulled down the large speakers in the lounge tipping all of the contents on top onto the floor.

- The victim stated that they arrived at the address and noticed the rear window of the house had been smashed. Nothing appears to have been stolen from the premises.
