Chrome books now in

- STEPH RANGI

Learning from chrome books is the way of the future and thanks to the Turangi Rotary Club, learning will come a bit more easier at Tongariro School.

During a Rotary meeting one evening, Tongariro School principal Steve Allen, spoke about the school and the Information Communications Technology (ICT) way of learning.

Out of that meeting, came an offer of support for the Turangi school.

The juniors will be the lucky recipients of the new chrome books.

Chrome books are a mini laptop used by the students during their time of learning. They don’t have the full facilities a laptop had but they operate through the school’s server and can either be touch pad or keyboard.

’’They get the children more engaged in learning and make it more fun and as easy as possible,’’ Allen said.

Tongariro School currently own 180 chrome books and also lease some others. With sponsorship from Rotary, they were able to purchase 10 more which totalled close to $5000.

‘‘We are grateful we can help the community out,’’ acting president, Paul Atkinson, said.

Three other Rotary members, Peter and Monique Canziani and Maurice Heappy, were also on hand to see the chrome books.
