TAUPO¯ POLICE REPORT

- Phil Edwards

taken and methods of entry, and have increased patrols in this area.

We are still seeing a steady number of trailers being taken throughout Taupo¯ so please secure trailers if you own one, even if within a secure yard.

The Taupo¯ Area (Tu¯rangi, Taupo¯, Tokoroa, Putaruru and Mangakino) have been seeing about 15 thefts per week. These are 15 too many, therefore we have a focus over the month of June to reduce these thefts and prevent them from happening. For us here in Taupo¯ that means we will be engaging with some of you in the community for assistance.

This week I have asked my staff to consider opportunities to reduce the road toll by patrolling our community and stopping those people in vehicles not wearing safety belts. Your habits around town become your habits on the open roads. If you are getting into a vehicle, please make it click and then ensure your mates and wha¯nau members have also made it click. I am confident that if we change our driving habits around town, our highways will be safer.

Look after each other as we head into the weekend.

Ma¯ te wa¯, Phil.
