Changeable week ahead

-

The middle week of November, and penultimate month of spring in Taupo¯, produced generally mild days and cool nights and some showery periods due to the northward movement of spring frontal systems.

The weather was very typical of spring and followed a consistent pattern for the time of year.

Daytime temperatures were mostly in the 20s, dropping marginally with the pattern of the fronts. While daytime temperatures were around normal, the nights were cooler dropping to a low of just 1.5 degrees on Friday, November 20 when it was not far off a ground frost. November rainfall is running close to the monthly average, but for only the second month of the year looks likely to finish marginally above average. The only month that has exceeded the average rainfall this year is June. With nine days left in November the monthly rainfall so far is just 1.00mm below the November average. Barometric pressures during the past week were reasonably stable. The week ahead is expected to be quite changeable as we move towards December which is the wettest month of the year after June. The June rainfall average is 139.5mm on 13 days and December 131.5mm on 15 days.
