THUMBS UP AND DOWN

-

■ Thumbs up and a big thank you to Joe and Amber from JAKS Haulage for providing the Hospice float in the Christmas parade with a truck and driver. Community support like this is amazing.

■ Thumbs up to M21 Meats for providing our local Red Cross branch with a voucher for a half ham for our annual fund-raiser, very much appreciated. From our branch we say thank you! Merry Christmas to all!

■ Thumbs up to Quality Print and also to Liz France from the Acacia Bay Residents’ Association Committee for all their joint time, effort and skill in bringing together and producing this year’s excellent Acacia magazine. It’s a community-created information-pack, a good read, and a very positive local ‘community-builder’. Thank you to all those involved.

■ Thumbs up and thank you to 1st Choice Engravers Taupo¯ for the wonderful and prompt service they provide engraving Wairakei Primary School’s trophies.

■ Thumbs up to Temple Productions and team for putting on Christmas in the Park Taupo¯ and the Santa Parade. The day was fantastic! Thank you for your efforts team!

■ Thumbs up to all the courier drivers working hard to get our parcels to us all during this extra busy time. Greatly appreciated.

■ Thumbs up to Jeremy Webber, you are an amazing doctor and you are always willing to help. Thank you so much!

■ Thumbs up to the postie who climbed 24 steps up and down and left all my mail and parcels neatly at my door, thank you.

■ Thumbs up to Damien at Noel Leeming for assisting us with the recent purchase of an iPad. Great service! Great sense of humour!

■ Thumbs up to Pete at BP Tauhara Rd. Very pleasant always and very helpful.

■ Thumbs down to irresponsible dog owners, please do not leave your dog’s poo on footpaths, it is disgusting, how much education do you need? Do you allow your dog to poo all over your lawn at home? Every dog owner has ample bags at home, so please use a bag and dispose of the bags in appropriate dispensers, please do not leave them on footpaths as some owners do.

■ Thumbs down to the public belchers and farters. I don’t want to smell what you had for dinner three nights ago. Please have some dignity and do this in private.

■ Thumbs down to people who still do not use the green bags, given free at the council, for their dog poo.

■ Thumbs down to the group that messed up a section of turf and left the place strewn with rubbish at Whakaipo Bay. This was noticed on December 7. We found your receipt from the petrol station amongst the bottle tops as we cleaned up the mess. The receipt, dated December 5, shows that you bought diesel and ice using a gift card. Does the giver of the BP gift card know what use you made of the gift?

■ Thumbs down to the health hazard at Two Mile Bay presented by swan poo on the footpath.

■ Do you have a bouquet or a brickbat? Email your thumbs up/ thumbs down to us at news@taupoweekender.co.nz, message Taupo Weekender on Facebook or drop them into our office in Waipapa House, Paora Hapi St, Taupo¯. Thumbs up/thumbs down may be edited or abridged. Personal attacks or thumbs down that refer to easily-identifiable people, businesses or groups won’t be published.
