THUMBS UP

■ Thumbs up to Danna Glendining for being an Airbnb super-host and having 109 guests since Christmas.

■ Thumbs up and well done to Cafe Baku for opening up for extended hours and serving meals until 8pm over the Supercars weekend. Seeing the whole waterfront’s hospitality businesses open to support the thousands who came out to Taupō was just awesome.

■ Thumbs up to the fantastic job done by the Garden Services man (from Auckland) who cut, trimmed the edges, removed all the excess weed growth between the road and curb, and then blew the mess back off the road in our cul-de-sac; the first time it had been done in seven years. Please, come back soon!

■ A big thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Taupō Hospital Emergency Department. My husband had an emergency medical event. He was treated professionally with great care and experience, which resulted in a positive outcome. I am very grateful to the team at Taupō ED.

■ Thumbs up to the talented bands that performed at Beehave Meadery on Saturday night. A great evening of live music, thank you!

■ Thumbs up to Taupō for putting on a great Supercars event. Lots of organisation was done to ensure visitors and locals alike had a good weekend.

THUMBS DOWN

■ Thumbs down to the incorrect map shared ahead of the Track to

Town event. The Supercars map was correct, but another one wasn’t. Lots of people ended up lining the wrong street and completely missing the parade.

■ Email your thumbs up/thumbs down to news@taupoturangi herald.co.nz, message Taupō & Tū rangi Herald on Facebook or drop into our office, upstairs at 4 Starlight Arcade, Taupō . Messages may be edited or abridged. Thumbs down that refer to easily identifiable people, businesses or private groups won’t be published.
