Te Awamutu team ousted from Chatham Cup contest
Te Awamutu exited in the first round of the nationwide Chatham Cup football competition — going down 4-2 to Ellerslie which plays in Northern Region Football League division 1.
Coach Joe Gifford reports that his team battled well against their higher ranked opponents to trail 1-0 at halftime.
Steffan Foulkes scored an equaliser before Ellerslie took the game by the scruff of the neck, scoring three further goals to put the result beyond doubt.
