Fast-paced basketball Saturday

-

Thirsting for some fast paced action this weekend? Then get along to the women’s first division basketball game between the Waikato Country Canons and Harbour Breeze.

Tip off is 2pm on Saturday at ASB Stadium at Te Awamutu Events Centre.

Waikato Country Cannons are supported by the local basketball association — Waikato Country Basketball.

The association is delighted to have a first division women’s team for the second year running and hope to improve on the 2017 finish of fourth.

The Waikato team is coached by Tyler Wilkinson. Te Awamutu coach TJ Pemberton has taken up the role of assistant coach for 2018.

The match will be crucial to the season points tally for both teams.

Currently sitting second equal on the table, Waikato Country Canons will look to secure another win to maintain a strong position on the ladder.

Harbour Breeze are sitting further down the ladder, so they too will desperately want the win.

“It would be great to have some strong local support for women’s basketball on Saturday,” says match spokeswoman Anna Wetere.

“Basketball fans are welcome to come along, the more the merrier.”
