NZ Highwaymen bringing gift of entertainment

-

They say word of mouth is the best advertising and we certainly have to agree when it comes to those miscreant marauders of merriment, mayhem and mirth, the legendary NZ Highwaymen.

Comprising four of New Zealand’s leading country musicians – Eddie Low MNZM, Gray Bartlett MBE, Dennis Marsh MNZM and Brendan Dugan, the quartet are coming to a town near you to play all their best-known songs and the songs you love to sing along to.

And there’s a bit of synchronicity at play as well – read on and you’ll see what we mean.

At a celebration of life gathering recently, one of the folks mentions they are looking for entertainers to perform at meetings of their over 50’s group, and asks if anyone has any ideas.

“Who have you had in the past?” one person asked. The reply included several names and ended with the comment “and one year we were lucky enough to be able to get Dennis Marsh.”

That sparked a flurry of comments from those present including: “Wow – I saw Dennis at The NZ Highwaymen show at Claudelands in May last year and I’ve got my tickets already for the June show this year”

“I remember when Dennis used to come to the Frankton markets – he was awesome!”

“I was at their May show – Eddie Low’s rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow was stunning. I disagree with that label they’ve given him as the voice in a million, that’s codswallop – there’s five million people in this country and no one can hold a candle to him – he’s the voice in five million!”

“I was there and just loved Brendan Dugan doing Do What You Do Do Well, it took me back to when he won New Faces in 1968, and those were happy times – and guess what (they said cheekily with a grin) he still do’s what he do do well – very well!”

“I saw him do a Johnny Cash tribute show and he nailed it!”

“I saw Eddie do a Roy Orbison tribute show called In Dreams and he was brilliant”.

“I think Gray Bartlett is a musical ventriloquist,” said another, “you can’t see his lips move but his guitar speaks volumes.”

Not quite how we understand ventriloquism works we thought, but we get what they mean – there’s musical magic in tham thar fingers!

What an outpouring of respect and admiration.

And our thoughts are with Eddie Low who has been very open about his recent stomach cancer surgery after collapsing five minutes before showtime in Hokitika in June last year.

Our thanks and sincere best wishes to you Eddie for your courage and determination to make it back to join the group.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift – that’s why it’s called the present.

Treat yourself to a ticket before May 5 and that present opens up the chance to win a special meet and greet with the NZ Highwaymen that includes having a photo taken with the group as well as a signed CD and DVD and a signed tour poster – one meet and greet available at each show!

And just to start the ball rolling we’re giving you the chance to win a double pass to catch the action at their Hamilton show!

So, there you have it, ...four highwaymen who are heading your way, not to rob, but to give back.

With their gift of music and laughter, they will give you a treasure more precious than gold and that is memories.

Rekindle old memories and make new ones as you experience the experience that is the NZ Highwaymen in concert.
