Winter tournament­s in full swing

Hockey Trevelyan’s Te Puke High School Hockey

Well done to the TPHS 2nd XI Girls who had two games on Monday, one a 2-2 draw with Mount Maunganui 2nd XI and a 0-0 draw with Aquinas College.

The TPHS 2nd XI boys were unlucky in their semi-final last week, but finished off in style beating Katikati College 2nd XI 4-2 to take third place in their division.

The TPHS 1st XI girls have had a good season, narrowly missing out in a close semi-final. They won their friendly match against TGC 2nd XI.

A huge thank you to Alice Todhunter, Suzy Longney, Vicki Long, Anna Pryde, Richard Klaus, Chris Stark and all the amazing people who have helped make the season a memorable one for the students.

Basketball

EastPack Te Puke High School Basketball

TPHS Senior Boys Navy beat Tauranga Boys College White 40- 33 to come seventh in the division.

TPHS Junior Girls A — bye. TPHS Junior Boys A — bye.

A massive thank you to all the supporters, whanau coaches and managers of the basketball teams this season.

The players in the teams have all improved throughout the season thanks to those around them and their hard work and dedication.

Football Tall Poppy Te Puke High School Football

TPHS Junior boys played Blue Rovers at home in their final game of the season. Te Puke put their best game of the season together and won the tightly contested match, 7-6. Player of the day was Nawaia Papelu who was a standout. A big thank you to coach George Pepperell, manager Sally Bentley and the many assistants who have helped through the year.

2018 New Zealand Secondary Schools Winter Tournament­s

This week we have the secondary schools winter tournament­s happening across the country.

All the best to our TPHS Senior A netball team who are competing in the 2018 UNISS netball tournament at Mount Maunganui and our TPHS Girls 1st XI football team competing in the NZSS Kathy Seaward tournament in Western Springs, Auckland.

The TPHS Girls 1st XI hockey team are competing in the NZSS winter hockey competitio­n in Stratford, Taranaki and the TPHS Boys 1st XI hockey team are competing in the NZSS winter tournament in Pakuranga, Auckland.

Tony’s Kebabs Players of the Day

A couple of the Tony’s Kebabs and Authentic Turkish Food Players of the Day for TPHS this week were Maia Trevelyan (hockey) and Nawaia Papelu (football).
