Megan is bound for Anakiwa

-

Te Puke High School student Megan Cross is off to Outward Bound.

After a lengthy delay due to lockdown, the Acorn Foundation was pleased to host the 2020 Outward Bound scholarship celebration at The Kollective in Tauranga.

Megan was chosen to receive one of 13 scholarships awarded this year to students at Western Bay of Plenty schools, plus Whakatane High School, to attend the Tangaroa Watch programme at Anakiwa in the South Island’s Marlborough Sounds.

Students are nominated by their schools and selected by Outward Bound staff members based on their commitment to their school and the community, with demonstrated financial need and an opportunity to improve their self-confidence.

Dedicated Acorn donors and other local supporters provide these valuable scholarships to this threeweek programme.

The programme uses outdoor adventures and physical activities to build resilience, perseverance and communication skills to provide lifelong benefits.
