There was quiet satisfaction in the Pa¯ pa¯ moa premier team ranks after they had lowered the colours of Baywide heavyweights Element IMF Cadets, at Cadets’ home base at the Tauranga Domain on Saturday.

Pa¯ pa¯ moa, the new boys on the block at the start of the Baywide season, had expectations of little more than continually improving each week and being competitive against the other eight teams in their debut season in the top echelon.

On Saturday, they exceeded their initial goals after defeating the multiple Baywide champions, with the victory propelling the team to their third successive win.

The Pa¯ pa¯ moa bowlers worked together to remove their opponents for a gettable 158. Guy Wilkins and Ashish Dhameliya took three wickets apiece, while Marcel Collett was the best of the Cadets batsmen, topscoring with 33 runs.
