Kerikeri proposal

- STAFF REPORTER

The Far North District Council is calling for submissions on a proposed private plan change, which would be the first step to a residential subdivision on the rural edge of Kerikeri.

Proposed Private Plan Change 22 – Inlet Estate Limited proposes to change the zoning of 17 and 17A Kerikeri Inlet Rd from Rural Living to Residential. It is expected the resulting development would be similar in character and density to the neighbouring Orchard Estate.

The applicant’s concept is to create 38 residential lots, shared private vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle access, and a communal area owned and managed by a residents’ society. It is possible, through the existing Residential zone controls in the District Plan, to subdivide these sites down to a minimum lot size of 600sqm as a controlled activity or 300sqm as a discretionary activity.

The land, which covers a total of 3.57ha, was recently used as a citrus and feijoa orchard but has been cleared. The private plan change was requested by a private company, Inlet Estate Limited.

Proposed Private Plan Change 22 can be viewed at council libraries, council’s service centre at the John Butler Centre in Kerikeri and online. Submissions close at 5pm on March 8. Visit www.fndc.govt.nz
