Worsley got away with stealing the flag from the German consulate in Samoa in 1899, thanks to a captain who appreciate­d his rebellious sense of humor. Following a dream of sailing a ship down a street, Worsley signed up to Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 Antarctic expedition. In 1917, the Royal Navy patrol boat Worsley was commanding sank a German U-Boat submarine off the coast of Ireland.
